A great intro to this series! We warmed up, jumped right int Italic lettering to shake off the Calligraphy cobwebs, and then got down to business with a project making a star. This not only got us working on a 1 inch high space, but required some creative planning to space the lettering on both sides. Made for a really cool final assembly.

Tonight was all about the technical notedbook. By using paper that you would regularly letter on, you provide yourself the perfect test space to try out medium and make notes on the results. A simple book with 3 signatures is well worth the time with how valuable it will becme to your work.

We’re getting serious about paper folding in ths session. Hermineh walks us through Suzanne Moore’s accordion book with cover. A perfect use of practice pages, card designs, or anything your creativity dreams up.

Tonight was full of collaboration and sharing. One of the best parts of Creative Lab is seeing what others are working on and providing each other ideas and insight to help expand the projects.

A great session tonight on lettering for and creating embossing! We started with the chosen letters and what makes a great choice visually. Then we worked on mirroring the letter on acetate and using that to gradually outline filling in the embossed areas and delicately stretching the paper for the desired effect.

Our last session together! We covered it all, registration, embossing, and new tools. It has been another wonderful Lab, not just in learning some new techniques, but everyone sharing together their own ideas and creative ideas. It will be a long summer with this wonderful group.
